GRIEF SAUNA
saunawelt COMMUNITY progrAmME EVENT
For generations, the Finnish sauna accompanied life’s most significant passages. It was a place where children were born and where the deceased were washed and prepared for burial. Grief Sauna draws on this older understanding of sauna as a place of care, transition and community.
Saunawelt’s Grief Sauna is a small, guided session created to give grief space to be felt and honoured rather than numbed, avoided or fixed. The sauna offers a largely non-verbal setting where mind and body can come together, while the presence of others offers quiet companionship and witness.

Grief does not need to look a certain way to belong here. You may be remembering someone you loved deeply, carrying complicated feelings about someone you have lost, or grieving another kind of loss altogether.

This is not talk therapy, and there is no expectation to tell your story or explain how you feel.
The Finnish Sauna will be kept at a gentler heat for two guided 20-minute rounds, with time to cool and rest between them. Traditional herbs, herbal tea, löyly and quiet sensory elements will accompany the practice.

You are simply invited to come as you are.
