At Saunawelt, Aufguss takes place in our Finnish Sauna. Water and snowballs infused with essential oils meet the hot stones, filling the room with steam and fragrance. The oils are selected and blended for their aroma and the character they bring to the ceremony.
Set to music, the Aufgussmeister uses either a towel or fan to move the heated air and steam through the sauna, with movements choreographed to shape the experience in the room.
An Aufguss unfolds over 2–3 rounds and lasts approximately 10–15 minutes. Scent, music, movement, and intensity vary from one ceremony to the next, with every Aufgussmeister bringing their own point of view.

Aufguss is included with your sauna session. No separate ticket or additional fee is required.
Refer to the Programme Calendar for upcoming ceremonies, then BOOK any 60-, 90- or 120-minute sauna session that includes the scheduled Aufguss time.
Allow enough time to change and be settled in the Finnish Sauna before the ceremony begins.Bring a towel to sit on and your water bottle to stay hydrated. You may wear your slides in the sauna.
Heat is more intense on the upper benches and closer to the stove. For a gentler start, choose a lower bench or sit farther from the stove. As the ceremony builds, you may move down, shift farther away or sit briefly on the floor to reduce the intensity.
Aufguss is a shared ceremony, and making room for one another is part of communal sauna etiquette. Leave space as guests settle in, and be prepared to shift during the ceremony as people move in response to the heat.
Yes. If you have had enough heat, leave quietly at any time; there is no expectation to remain until the end. To preserve the flow of the ceremony, re-entry is not permitted.
Aufguss heat can be intense. Allow time for a proper cool-down and rest before beginning another sauna round.
